My husband is on 75% travel at work. The only one who sits for me is my sister-in-law, and it is a RARE occasion. She also has an autistic child so her schedule is loaded. I call on her when I know for sure it is absolutely not possible (like no kids allowed situations) for him to come, and then I have to work around her schedule. She might babysit once or twice a year for me, at most. Everybody else I know works. So, he comes with me everywhere, all of my errands and even my doctors appts. (including the gynie... just horrible!!!!)
The way I see it is, they are educated people on the matter, especially the school pysche. These are the people who should be THE MOST understanding of any behaviors. I wouldn't sweat it. You have the homework for one and the leapster for the other, you've done your part. Their part is to be understanding, patient, and flexible.
I agree w/ Adrien's Mom - they should be used to this - and you can judge by their reactions how well they would/will deal w/ it in the class. The school psych just scheduled our initial meeting for this Friday to sign consent to begin the MFE. Anything I should be prepared for going into this? This is not the first time I have done this, but the school that wrote Deuces IEP was MUCH easier to deal with in every way, so I'm not sure if this could be harder than simply going in and signing a paper.
I can't get a sitter for Friday (actually, I never have access to a sitter, so it's not even a matter of re-arranging the meeting). I have told my boys that they had better be on their BEST behavior and that if they are, I'll buy them a Happy Meal afterwards (a big deal for them, as I don't allow them to get mcD's very often at all.)Deuce will just take his math book and knock out some work while he waits, and I'm hoping Cody will just sit and play with his Leapster. *sigh* Have any of you ever been forced to take kids with you to a meeting due to lack of sitter? Was it horrible? I miss my husbands old schedule, when he was home during the day and worked evenings. I always had plenty of time for meetings back then.
I've had to take my kids with me many, many times. To meetings with lawyers as well! LOL!
I've had very understanding people, truly. I've not run into a problem at all. I've had secretaries bring paper and highlights in for them and they can "color."
I've had to take my kids into my office as well now and again, and I bring the portable DVD player with me and headphones.
