Question about GFCF foods | Autism PDD

Share

Honestly, I've had pretty good results on the diet so far (by following the gluten-free and casein free restrictions very strictly) even though I haven't been very watchful about the other things, like sulfites.  Removing nitrites/nitrates is my next step, and I'm undecided about sulfites.

It seems to me that beyond the gfcf aspect, every child who is a diet responder has a unique set of sensitivities to other foods.  You may find that sulfites are not an issue for your child.  A good way to find out would be to go on a very bland diet and slowly introduce such things, keeping a journal of your observations.  But yes, a food with sulfites is (to my knowledge) still gfcf.

I don't know about these particular meats.  But most companies are very nice about responding quickly to requests for nutritional information if you send them an email.

Jennifer, we buy the BH low-salt turkey. jaden does fine with that.

I know there are other BH meats that qualify but we just do turkey right now.

they are very helpful with the diet and answers, etc.

Hi all. I have read on the Boar's Head webpage that their meats are gluten free. I am just curious if they are casein free also.  It seems like calcium is used as a preservative in a lot of things so I am wondering about this. So does it have to be preservative free? Also, if something has sulfites, like welch's white grape juice for instance, is it still GFCF?

I just wanted to add to this post.. I have been reading the book special diets for special kids and it mentioned that you can have some calcium enriched drinks, I believe like rice milk or almond milk, but I thought anything with calcium in it would not be CF. And what about preservatives in food like calcium phosphate, would that be allowed? Can anyone explain this to me?  I appreciate all of your help!!
