JD and Jack both love the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, its in one of the videos they watch. Anyways I noticed that JD could say some of the words in the song so we started praticing. I say the words to the song and he repeats them after me. Tonight I had my mom on the phone and I took JD into the bathroom (don't ask me why this is just where he likes to talk) first he flushed the toliet and we did Twinkle while my mom listened. She was so thrilled. She couldn't hear him very well, he is so soft spoken. But she heard him say Twinkle, Star, Up and Are very clearly. We are now going to have to buy stock in jelly belly, these are JD's favorites so I use them as rewards when he talks.

mmmmmm...  jelly belly's :)

That's a sweet story, J&J's Mom - thanks for sharing it.  My Abigail seems to like to talk in the bathroom, too - go figure!  I always sort of thought is was because she was kind of 'restrained' (on the pot) in a somewhat barren environment, so she had no choice but to focus on other people, if they're present!

Anyway, I'm glad he's singing to you and your mom - their singing voices are always so nice to hear.

Oh how very sweet!! Yes...I would get lots of jelly belly's too..Over here the food reward of choice is skittles...lol  Thanks for sharing!!

That is so cute and wonderful I think there have been other posters that say their kids sing and love that song...hmmm. coincidence? Sarah loved "twinkle little star" and hummed it all the time and then started with a real word here and there.. Every time I hear that song it takes me back..I came up with a totally different meaning for the song when she was nonverbal humming it all day.... Twinkle twinkle little star was her and I was "wondering where you are?"... thinking where was she??  up there in the sky so high:)

That was my sons first song to.  I got him a book that illustrates the song, and it was great.  He sang it all the time, his words are all clear, but he gets the idea.  That was a year ago. He learned the Abc's too since its the same melody.

I think potty time is the best time to teach them too.  They have nothing else to do or be distracted by.  I taught my son he's letters when he started potty training.  By the time he was all done training, he could call out all the letters he saw regardless of order.  He has since forgotten most of them
