Update on Cole and his baby cousin! :) | Autism PDD

Thanks!! Thank you so much, all of you who responded to my thread I wrote yesterday re: my son and my sister's baby. I was so upset and just didn't know what to do. So, I decided to take the advice of one of you (can't remember who it was, sorry). I decided to take him there again and give him LOTS of attention and ignore the baby. I also brought my husband along and he let Cole go play outside, and Cole loved that. Then, when he came in from outside he watched a movie and even gave the baby a kiss. He also gave my sister and hug and kiss right away when we got there (yesterday he wouldn't - it was like he was immediately mad at her). It was a complete turn around from yesterday. I think the fact that I didn't pick up the baby right away really helped. It also helped that we allowed him to go outside. I was so excited because he didn't even fight us when we said it was time to go (we decided to leave when he was becoming a little hyper/obnoxious), all I did was tell him if he saya goodbye and gets in the car nicely then he could have some cheetos. It worked! I'm so glad, I feel very relieved. I guess I just have to remember to give him some special attention when we are around the baby and also let him have a special treat (going outside) if he acts nice!

Thanks again for your advice. I'm convinced now that it's not really a medication issue, just a Cole issue that we should be sensitive to.
