I've been busy for the last couple of days. You know how most NT children will get into everything that is in cabnets, drawers etc? Well Adam did this to an extent when he was a toddler but nothing like my other two children did. I thought for so long how lucky I was that he didn't make a mess exploring. I mean he makes messes....especially when he's having a meltdown he will tear my house apart but he very seldom just explored for his own curiosity.
Well the last two days have been like dealing with a toddler (he's a preschooler) that has just realized all the amazing things he can get into. See....I think we all childproof our homes to accomidate our individual children and our individual households right? Well since adam is over 3 and I really didnt' have a problem with him really getting into everything so I have started to put things back in their place because I figured if he has never done this yet then he probably won't. LOL LOL LOL Also there are things in my house that he has NEVER messed with or even showed any interest in before. One of those things is my make up!! It sits on my bathroom sink as it always has. Well yesterday he was in my bedroom ( he seems to spend a lot of time in there) playing with toys and the next thing I know.....my son comes running out of my bedroom to the living room where I am with a huge smile on his face. And that smile was 10 times it's normal size because of the lipstick that he had used to "accent his lips". Oh and it was cute...don't get me wrong but it was not only on his face around his lips either.....all over his hands of course....all in his hair......It was pretty much covering every part of his body that wasn't covered with his spiderman jammas. LOL LOL I got a good laugh until i seen what he did to my carpet. He obviously thinks he is some sort of artist because next to my bathroom in my bedroom on the carpet was one of his special drawings that he left for me done in lipstick. Also during the struggle of chasing him down to get him into the tub he also got it all over my couch. OK...i'm thinking....no big deal.....Got out all the cleaning stuff after getting him in the bath and got it all up thank goodness. I also put my makeup up high into the cabnet over the toilet. I'm thinking......This is now over...it was cute...a story I can tell the grandchildren later etc etc. NOPE So apparently I didn't learn my lesson. This morning we woke up and after breakfast I put on his shows and preceded to drink my coffee and check my email etc. It wasn't 15 mins later I hear him in my bathroom. He apparently went right by me while i was on the computer and I didnt' even notice. I'm thinking ok...nothing for him to get into because everything is put up. WRONG....I go in there and he is on the foor in a nest that he has made for himself of a couple rolls of toilet paper. Playing in this mess like it was a ball pit or something. Then I smell something VERY FAMILIAR. After getting him untangled from his toilet paper I noticed after taking a good look at him that he is covered from head to toe in my loose face powder!! I look up at the cabnet and realize that he has climbed up on top of the toilet apparently and gotten into this cabnet to get none other than my MAKE UP. In my dear childs hands is the powder puff applicator and as I'm bending down to finish cleaning the mess he reaches out and puff's my face really hard and then laughs at me.
I guess my whole point is that this is my THIRD child. You'd think I would know better. LOL LOL LOL Anyway the last two days he has been really verbal also....and seems to be getting into EVERYTHING. He up until this point was not what I would have called a "high maintenece" child. He has his moments but he is usually very predictable. See my other children did things like this so much earlier. Was wondering if any of your children had a delayed exploration stage like this? Take care all....and HIDE YOUR MAKE UP if you ever decide to stop by..LOL
Karrie
Karrie HOW FUNNY!
I remember Tyler once taking magic marker and making scribble lines all over his entire body... belly... arms.... legs.... face... he even tried to get his back! I asked him WHY and he said he was "TIGGER"! LOL I had to take a picture of that before I put him in the tub!
Michelle,
THATS HILARIOUS!!!! LOL LOL Somehow I picture him jumping up and down like tigger as your trying to get him in the bath!! How cute!!!!
Srs-mom,
I would highly recommend you hold on to the baby gate for as long as possible..LOL LOL
Karrie
Well Gabe still gets into things like a toddler. Sometimes he will go at least 6 months then out of the blue, here comes the toddler stage again. But considering where his maturity level is at, I guess this is expected. Now If only I could get him to drop the idea that I need another baby. He said today that I needed another baby so I would have three boys and they could all play together. With beyblades of course.
Tammy Oh tammy....LOL LOL That reminds me of my oldest son Billy......He hid my birth control pills on me and told on himself by saying, "Don't even try finding your pills mommy because I want a new baby".........LOL LOL Funny...that was before Adam was even thought of...NOW Billy is all concerned that I am due near his birthday and is stressing that he might get less presents if another child is born in the same pay period.....That and he keeps asking me " Mommy you aren't going to have any more kids after this one are you???" LOL LOL Funny what a new brother and a few years has done to my oldest. LOL LOL Karrie
Tammy Light blue on a blue background is next to impossible to read. Tammy Hey Tammy, Maybe it's YOU that needs to eat carrots???
Karrie NO karrie look again. After you post it the part where you typed the posting turns to a shade of blue, just like this word I am typing, after I post it the background will be blue. Yes I know tammy...LOL I was saying that I had no problem reading the "light blue on a blue background...LOL Karrie It was too light to be able to read without leaning forward like when a turtle sticks out his head. Tammy Thats why I said you need carrots..LMAO Karrie "What's up doc?" Tammy Karrie, I also thought my third (Takoda) was such a little angel. He used to just stand and open and shut cupboards repetedly. I didn't know this was stimming.
When he hit three he started climbing in my cupboards and taking things out to make more room. I have the cutest pictures of Takoda and his pug puppy in the cupboards together. But what a pain picking up after him. Now with having a toddler in that toddler stage I am constitantly picking up the contents of my cupboards.
But yes I did notice Takoda going through his toddler stage at three also. Just makes in alot more challenging! HAVE YOU TRIED YOUR DUCTAPE YET?
Nelle You know what Nelle? I actually thought about pulling out the duct tape to put on my make up box and then realized that I probably wouldn't be able to get it off of there to let myself use it!!! LOL LOL Oh the cabnets....JEEZ....he's doing that too...taking everything out. But unlike a toddler he can climb up on top of the counter without a chair now and he is starting to get things out of the top cabnets too!! Of course his gross motor skills are adding to the frustration of it all. LOL Yesterday I spent a good 45 mins standing in the kitchen keeping him from climbing up there. At this rate....he will be on top of the refrigerator soon!!! LOL Karrie What about a lock box? That might work, unless you have too much makeup to store in the lockbox. I know they sell them at target. Lol, that is where I got mine. Oh yeah, I never used it,
Tammy It appears that EVERYTHING in my house needs a lock box now!!!! LOL LOL Karrie Oh I know that feeling. I used to have to lock up the refrigerator. Now some people thought that was mean but I would prefer to do that then have all the stuff in the fridge out on the floor. Tammy
