FBA = Functional Behavioral Assessment. It's a structured observation that is designed to determine the FUNCTION of a behavior. For example, is your son seeking a break or is he obsessed with looking in the mirror or is he too shy to go when the others go so he needs to go at other times?
BIP = Behavior Intervention Plan. Based on the REASON for the behavior, a sensible postive plan can be created. For example, as a pp mentioned, if your son simply needs a break, he can be give a card that he can use to get out of class for a short time. That can be part of his structured behavior plan. It can be a "free pass" or it can be time earned by doing other things. It should contain NOTHING NEGATIVE.
BCBA = Board Certified Behavior Analyst. This is someone who has A LOT of education in behavior modification. Most are experts in autism. A BCBA is not the only person who can do and FBA and create a BIP, but s/he's the best.
