What does my dd need next? | Autism PDD

Do you still need some tips?  I just have a couple of thoughts, which will also bump this.

For social skills, how about at least one hour of week of guidance counseling, which would take the form of a social skills group?  That is, if the school has such as group (it should).  There should be role-playing in such a group. While my son had this and it was of some limited value in the public school, it may work better for your daughter.

Also, with the still-existing communication issues, how about ST for pragmatics? I'll admit I don't really know about ABA (I'm assuming it's behavioral therapy, please excuse the ignorance here), so I'm thinking that the communications issues go beyond that and she may need something specific to speech.  Has she had a speech eval?

Hope this helps.

My dd has been receiving aba and 1:1 services for a couple of years. She is in her 2nd year of mainstream kindergarten with 1:1 skills trainer and pull out to work aba about 40 minutes a day. Her behavioral therapist says that he is in the last stages of aba with her and probably won't need pull out next year, just a couple of hours a week with him. I hope that she has at least an educational asst. part time next year, but it looks like services are going to be pulled. I am not horribly upset because she has made good progress over the years and she is starting to get dependent on an aide. She is no where near recovered..she still has some social and communication issues. Her behavioral issues revolve around her OCD and people invading her personal space. What can I legitimately ask for? I know she needs some sort of structured social skills. What forms do these usually take place in. I guess I am unsure of "What Next" and need some ideas!
