This is not the place you want to relocate. My friends and I have not had good experiences here in the Antelope Valley. Personally, I hope you don't transfer, if you do check the charter schools or get used to being home. Sorry to be so negative. Where are you from?
There is a chance that my husband may be transferred to Palmdale, CA... is anyone out there? Could anyone tell me what it's like over there? :) We are just worried about schools, programs... what kind of help is there? autism programs? autism schools? We would be coming from Florida... and our son is 5.
also, on a another note... do you have any links about palmdale that can tell me a little bit more about the area... i've been to www.cityofpalmdale.org/
take a look at this link
Palmdale School District
Palmdale Elementary School District is the fourth largest elementary
school district in the State of California and the largest in Los
Angeles County. PSD offers traditional and innovative educational
programs in K-5, K-6, K-8 middle and intermediate school settings. The
District also has a dual-immersion magnet school, Los Amigos and a school of choice, Palmdale Learning Plaza which offers visual and performing arts and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs.
The District also contains two charter schools: The Guidance Charter School offers an education with small class sizes and a variety of instructional programs including foreign languages. The Antelope Valley Learning Academy offers support for home-schooled children and their parents.

we are going to wait to see if the transfer is offered (it's been
mentioned, but not offical yet)... and my DH says he will turn it down
and see what happens at that point. we are not too keen on the idea of
moving right after we are getting situated here (we are in north
florida)
