The only person I have ever gotten any info from as far as aid is Bruce Blake with UCF CARD> He is awesome!! I would call another card-like ours and tell them your situation. Also call the elks lodge in Umitila Fl. They can help with OT needs. It is a hard road to navigate! Good luck!!

Hey everyone, a little new here too, well, new/old.....so much valuable info here, Wow! Jen you  really did a great job on this site :-) So happy for you. We all ought to be promoting it as the more people the more info. supplied. Anywho....

I was wondering if anyone who is a member of this board can tell me how I go about getting someone to fund a weighted blanket, boardmaker program, and a disc-o-sit. I have been trying forever to find an agency to do this as we have not been able to afford them. In the past, I could get necessary things like this from school (it was private...of course...LOL) or the agency that provided the home-based ABA for my Son where I used to live. The list of necessities keeps getting bigger as he does. I believe Medicaid will fund the Tech-talk when we need it. But what about the rest????

Do I really have to resort to the jar in the supermarket and put my kids name and face everywhere????

In NY there were agencies that you could apply for grants to and get a one time stipend, if approved, depending on what you wanted the funds for and your resources.....whatever do I do here in Fla.????I would call the Center for Disabilities in your area here - We have CILO here in St Lucie that loans materials, etc. In response to Payne's Mom...Hi! Um, yea we have the center for autism and related disabilities...they heaven't been very helpful. We also have the Agency for persons with developmental disabilities   which is the 3 year wait list I referred to. I don't know where else to go. I am sure I could get a referral from his Pediatrician saying it's medically necessary, but who would I apply to? She just says there really isn't anything else around that she knows of. She only has one other Autistic Patient and that person says there really isn't either. We are in Volusia.Hi again, I accidentally referred to the # of active topics as opposed to the amount of members when I made the comment about letting more people know about the forum. LOL! Obviously everyone is doing their share of promoting. :-)This board has grown tremendously since I was last here. My bad....Sorry....please forgive!
