Sandy,
We did diet 3 years ago and I bought a white gfcf bread that needed to be in freezer~look in frozen section it was great..real soft too when thawed out. We made chic. nuggets with Mrs. Robins(?) baking mix which was really tasty..made a huge batch and froze them. I can't remember the margarine at all !
Thanks for your input. the short term side effects are fine but I am worried about the long term esp since our son has progressed so much, he is practically indistinguishable. I will check with a few pediatricians but I expect i know what ans to get from the main stream docs! I will check at the library for the video you recommended.
Would you happen to know a gluten casein free butter replacement for baking, for non baking purposes. I use smart balance ligth for toast and canola / olive oil for cooking? any good link to a softer bread - recipie or store brand. the best i found was a cinnamon raisin bread at wegmans.
Thanks once again!
Sandy
I have a 4 year son diagnosed as PDD nos at about 3. Currently very verbal and bright and has done remarkably well with all the therapies we have incorporated in his schedule. Academically maybe ahead his age, yet reciprocal conversation still a problem, but beginning to improve a lot, potty trained, listens very well to directions, no behavior or sleep problem, eats a whole range of foods - but we still have to feed him most of the time (working on self feeding). our DAN doctor has suggested Prednisone, reading all the side effects I am extremely nervous if I should start it. His EEGs are normal. Benefits expected are - repressing immune system (from vaccines) and healing of the gut. I see the scientific basis but don't know whether its worth the risk. He is so close to being recovered and we have worked very hard last year!! he seems to get a rash as well every once in a while (dry, sometimes itchy but usually doesn't bother, not really visible as such but skin appears rough - maybe eczema?) on his chest, crevices of elbows/ knees. currently has been on GF CF for 4 months - really not much difference as such as he had been progressing anyway, and couple of times the diet was accidently broken we noticed no difference at all.
Also is MSG ok - maybe once in a while? i know what it is but is it GF CF? he likes The BOb evans sausages and the only offending additives I see is MSG. i mostly cook everything from scratch and he loves fresh fruit of all kinds, but i'm exhausted by the end of the day.
Thanks!!
Sandy
Anyone have - success/ bad experience with prednisone??
