In Illinois...contact "Little Friends, Inc." in Naperville, they'll be able to put you in touch with MANY resources...we're looking to move there this summer from Bloomingdale, as the school system is top-rated and resources for Autism in Naperville are UNBELIEVABLE!

(but I don't know why you'd want to move here from Hawaii!!

Maybe this link will help........... http://www.therapeuticmilieu.org/directory.html

ALSO; you may want to contact Unlocking Autism's Parent 2 Parent network. It will put you in touch with parents in the state specific to you and help you find resources for that area. http://www.unlockingautism.org/repfinder2.asp

I hope things work out well for you with your move.

Maybe you could contact each State's Department of Education and ask them for a list of special ed schools in the specific area of the state you are looking at moving to As well as residential treatment centers, also try contacting the county's mental health services and or department of human services to find a list of residential treatment centers in the specific area you are looking for.

Hi Sandie:

I came across your question regarding residential facilities in the western U.S. for children with autism.  Just thought I'd let you know about our organization, Fodor Homes.  We're in Seattle, Washington, and have been working with autistic children for many years.  We have several small, family-like homes, and work very closely with the families of our kids.  We take children from all over the U.S. (we currently have one in residence from Hawaii).  Please feel free to contact me if you'd like more information.

P.S.

Please feel free to visit Fodor Homes' website at www.fodorhomes.com

I live in Naperville, Il and have heard great things about the Little
Friends residential program. I think the program is only a couple of
weeks though. The school district here is also great!
Good luck!
KarenIs there a site for educational and recreational programs for kids with autistic spectrum disorder. The site mentioned was for EBD kids.

I lived in Chicago for many years and had a very good friend with 3 autistic sons.  After much research their family chose Naperville for the resources there.  That was 10 years ago--I wouldn't be surprised if she was part of the push behind making them even better.
