I know very little about seizures, but I do know they can increase with hormonal changes. Here is a link to good epilepsy message board, they might be able to give you advice of what to do next: http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=133
I have heard really good things about UCLA, especially Dr. Shields. I think a second is always a good idea.
gabu39072.6917361111I just don't know what else to do. My son Dominique is 17, high functioning autistic. He's had seizures when he was 6 months old after a DPT shot. The DR put him on pheno for a month and he did not have anymore seizures until he was 11 years old. It has been a nightmare, he's been on several anti convulsants. He's on Keppra, it's been 2 years now, but it seems like he is getting the seizures more often, I am talking from 3 times a year to one almost every month now. He was taking 2,000mg per day, now we just started a new dose last night, 3000 mg per day. Dominique had 2 seizures (tonic clonic) tonight. I paged his neuro, I told her I think this medecine is making him sicker, she said she doubts it.....I am sooo frustrated, angry, sad and depressed. I don't know what else to do, I KNOW FOR SURE I AM GOING TO LOOK INTO UCLA NEURO DEPT....Just needed to vent.
