I am also writing a letter to my school system to try and get services for my child. I need to move as quickly as possible because he is going to Middle School next year and I know that MS means more problems. I noticed that many of you offered to read and help with reading letters. I would greatly appreciate any help. I have gotten my letter down to just a page and a little more using wider margins and cutting some spaces. It is hard to get everything in and keep it short. You guys are wonderful support.

I just want to thank Karolysgirl again. She has been so so so helpful. I feel much more comfortable about my letter now. Thanks again.

Is your child already classified into the special ed system? Feel free to post your letter here and you'll get lots of responses. If this is an initial eval, it is somewhat different and WILL take longer, but never longer than 60 days from the time they receive your written request. He is not classified EC. A 504 was done when he was in 3rd Grade but it only address testing modifications. His main problem is behavior. He has been suspended three times this year for crying outburst. In most of the situations it could have been prevented. Thanks for your reply. IF you will e-mail me I will send you a copy to read. I would greatly appreciate your help.I would be happy to look at your letter if you want, PM me for my email address. If your son has never received services all you need to do is request an assessment in writing.
