Share

We are looking to make an appt with a good developmental pediatrician or neurologist in PA. We live near Scranton, PA. Does anyone know of any in the area? There are really so few on the East Coast. We'd be willing to travel to NJ as well.

well i am not sure where scranton pa is i am in jersey.. And i am taking my son to children's hospital in phliiy he has been going there since birth for all sorts of problems but now i am taking him to see there specialist .. A develpomental ped.. I have heard that they really have good ones.. 5 of my freinds all took there children there for some reason or another and they were all very satisfied.. I have been on the waiting list for 8 months and finally goon april18 and the25 for a appt to see them.. They break indown into 2 appts. So they do not overwhelm the child.. I can't wait to see what they say.. Good luck

Hi I live in Delaware county PA and I know that there is doctors at AI dupont hospital in Wilmington DE.  I saw a peds specialist that is in Chester PA.  Her name is Dr. Godboyle and she was wonderful but there is a very long waiting list.  My daughter, who is 4 going on 5 in May and has PDD, nos, saw her in August 2006 and she was great.  I now have my daughter in a fulltime class and she is finally improving.  I do hear alot of good things about CHOP too.  It is just a matter of the wait time.  Long, long waits.I never thought about going there for behavior that is one of the main problems i am having with my 3 1/2 year old i am fighting with the school now to get a functaional behavior eval.. How long is the wait to get into  chop for behavior if you know.. Thanks I live in Pittsburgh but that wont help you.Hello i live near scranton and see Dr. Myers in Danville.  HE IS WONDERFUL.  Janet Weis children's hospital.  Great diagnostician.  He spent 4 hours with my family explaining everything.  Hope this helps danville is only an hour or two from scrantonKalebton and mommyofalmost 3,
I live near Scranton too (Pike county), I too rave about Dr. Meyers-I travel 2 and a half hours to go see him and his assistant, Julie Edkin. He actually sat on the floor and played with my son and talked with me for over two hours during our initial visit!

They will go a mile for you to get everything possible for your child. Their number is 570-214-9361

Hope this helps.

I live in Allentown and we drive to Giesenger Medical Center and meet with Dr. Challman...excellent and the wait is not that long...

Lehigh Valley hospital in Bethelem is great as well,,they just opened up a new center that we now take my son Ashton to....he goes there for speech and OT....

Haven't seen the doctors yet...but soon will....

If you want to email for any other recommendations please feel free to

I am at cheermamanpb@aol.com

Thanks

Diana

I did not have a good experience at CHOP at all.  We were very disappointed, expecially after waiting 9 months for the appointment.  We also saw Dr. Godbole at Crozer and really like her. There is also a wait, but she takes a much more individual approach. CHOP is so big, it just felt more like a factory.  In fact, I've heard from several of son's therapists that they have read CHOP reports about different kids with very different issues that were basically carbon copies of one another.

Hi!

My son who will almost be 4 in May has just been diagnosed with PDD-NOS.. I feel I have the best pediatric neurologist who is Dr. Henry Maguire from Janet Weis Childrens Hospital (Geisinger- Danville) He is very thorough and discussed absolutely everything I needed to discuss with him.  I am originally from outside Wilkes Barre, Pa but now currently live in the Northern Tier..

Good Luck

I live near Hershey PA. (near Harrisburg)

There is a  wonderful Doctor named Dr. Jeanette Ramer at the Penn State Childrens Hospital, Penn State Milton S Hershey Medical Center in Hershey PA.  She is in the Division of Human Genetics, Growth and Development.   She has the reputation of being the best in the area.   Let me know if you want any other additional information.  She also has a 4-6 month wait to get an appointment.

I really like her a lot.

CHOP does not see any child over 3 1/2 years old in there autism center or developmental peds, unless you had an appointment with them before 3 1/2 years old and want to follow up. CHOP is great but if you child is older than 3 1/2 years forget it with seeing a developmental ped, plus if your child is less than 3 1/2 years old the first appointment for new patients is at 8 months to 10 months. Dupont does see kids of any age in the developmental dept. but waiting time is around 6-8 months and they see kids only in Wilimington, DE. They have a autism center in Newark, NJ (I think they are affiliated with Rutgers) and they have all specialist in one place and will take appointments for any age. However, I do not have any direct experience with there doctors. Good luck..I would try to get an appointment ASAP and sometimes they have cancellations and can get you in earlier..
