Help Help IEP Meeting in the Morning... | Autism PDD

I am not sure that this is totally a bad thing, we are typically offered a placement in advance of the goals and what ends up happening is extensive disagreement over the placement, and the goals end up being not worked on a lot, and so are not good.  As far as I can tell the fight over placement is motivated by the SD assuming a bunch of weak goals, and so a cheap placement.  And we are thinking of agressive goals, and so a more expensive placement.

So my thought for you would be would be to write a bunch of agressive goals and get those decided upon first and then asking "OK, how do we meet these goals?"  You'd probably have to be willing to steer the IEP meeting along your agenda, something I have not succeeded in doing in 4 years.

The "I" part of the IEP is supposed to mean that you do not have to accept pre-existing programs, the goals ought to determine the program.  This is not what we see, and I think our children are worse off for it.

I wish I had some good goals to suggest, but not having seen any, I am not sure what they look like.  Wright's Law has a set of pages starting here:

But not having been through all of it I am not sure how good it is.  But Wright's Law is usually good.

Best of Luck.
This seems to be one of two similar postings, the other is
"First IEP meeting in the Morning"
and seems to have more responses.
Alright Guys after much fighting, I finally got them to reopen Hunter's IEP (closed last year for speech but he got reevaluated and needs it just like I said he did lol) but the teacher has asked me what I think he needs in his IEP but wouldn't tell me what they offer in programs and anything like that I have heard they have LOTS to offer but I have the feeling Im not gonna get any recommendations and unless I ask for it they aren't gonna tell me about it... Any ideas Hunter is HFA, OCD, Seizures, Anixety...
