Here in Los Angeles, there is a one week sleep away camp run by Fact
Family for children with autism. The kids stay at the dorms at UCLA, eat
at the UCLA dining room, ect. It's for ages 10 and up, and my son is
going for the first time this summer. For most, Regional Center pays for
some or all of it (they are paying for all of it for me). Anyone who might

I live in florida and alot of people haven't heard about camp florida fish tales.
It's a wonderful camp for all children ! They have 1 week sessions. They provide 1on 1 !!

My 8 year old autistic son has gone for 3 years now it gives me a break and i know he is having fun doing all the things normal kids would do at camp. (fish,canoe,archery,swim, campfires ect..)
I'm in SW Fl. I'm going to have to check this out. How does your son handle being away from you? Right now Nate won't even visit a friend's house w/out me for an hour, I can't imagine a sleep-away camp... Not today, but maybe one day. Gee, seems like I'm saying that a lot nowadays... lol

I found the first time i left him to more harder for me then him !
Of course i cried he was holding hands with he's counsler walking to the playground and didn't even look for me leaving,so i thought he didn't even relize i was leaving him. But when i came back a week later he was all over me but also was clinging to his counslor which then i knew he had fun, and liked he's counslor!!!
They even called me a couple times during the week to tell me he was fine!!!
Now my son knows when we pull up to the camp and smiles !!
What a feeling !! Cause he is nonverbal so the smile tells all !!!

They take kids evn if you can't pay anything !! Iusually ask if they need anything last year she needed art supplies (crayons,paper, glue ect...) what a deal for a week of camp!!!
