Thank you so much for all of your advice. We are currently waiting on OT to call us back and I am very excited about getting that started. I have been doing as much reading as i can and it helps a lot, there is just so much advice out there that it is hard to figure out what to do next. You obviously can't do it all at once and with everyone telling you that time is of the essence I really want to make sure that we are doing all of the right things from the start. Thanks again.

My son Sammy was diagnosed exactly two years ago when he was almost 4. I immediately started giving him glyconutrients at the recommendation of a friend.
You can check out http://www-best-autism-help.com which I started working on last summer and am still working to add more pages. This is about my personal experience with my son who had once displayed at least 90% autistic behaviors written about in books and magazines.
I don't know how old your son is, but I really took the time to make the site as informative as possible, so you may find it helpful.
Now he's in mainstream kindergarten although he still gets half a day of special education. Although still behind in language, he is bi-lingual and my goal is to get Sammy in complete mainstream in 1-2 years.
Good Luck!
Hello Everyone,
My son was just diagnosed as being Autistic with Sensory processing disorder, on Thursday. I am trying to figure out diets and supplements and vitmains and it all seems so vast. I don't even know where to start or what to give him first. Part of me knows that I can't "fix" him but I do want him to be the best that he can be. I just want to know what's worth trying and what people are just trying to sell me because they know I am vulnerable and desperate. Any help would be appreciated greatly. Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
We have found great improvements using the DAN protocol.
We use the Gluten-free, casein-free diet:
http://www.tacanow.com/dietinfo.htm
and in the beginnign, started her on SuperNuThera:

and calcium.
Then we found a DAN (Defeat Austim Now) doc here:

God bless you as you work for your child!
The easiest bio-medical start is suplementing the kids digestive enzymes, read the story of Karen DeFeliz in her website http://www.enzymestuff.com
go from there.
Andrea.
Find a good OT who is trained and experienced with sensory disorders. Andrew has benefitted from OT since age 2 and continues to at age 5.
Do not rush into anything...One day at a time, one step at a time. Take some time to read, research, talk to other parents, visit the web sites recommended here, and then start with something your instincts tell you that you can handle. Once starting any type of intervention, you must be consistent and persistent...
Good Luck and God Bless!
