Shawn’s IEP yesterday | Autism PDD

Share

Well we had Shawn's IEP yesterday.  Overall was good. He also had his Triennel review. The IEP was to continue with the same service. He attends a special day class and goes to mainstream science, with assistance, mainstream PE, next year with no assistance, and mainstream electives with no assistance. He is doing so well that he has made honor roll!!  What is great is that he will get to be in the honor roll ceremony! We can't wait.  The WISC eval was about the same level as it was 3 years ago, which was a little dissapointing.  The best news was the diploma issues. It turns out that California does NOT do an IEP diploma. They require all persons that get a diploma pass the california exit exam.  If they do not they get a certificate of completion. That is true for all kids, IEP or not. My daughter passed hers last year. She is my straight F student

Oh yea. This is an excerpt from the review of WISC scores:

Shawn's scores classify his intelligence as ranging between borderline and below average as conpared with a nation-wide example of students his age. There is a significant difference among the four scale scores, making interpretation of the full scale score meaningless as a representation of Shawn's overall intellect.

It is great that he will be in the honor roll ceremony; I hope that you will post a photo afterwards. It is very encouraging that he is on track to graduate with a regular diploma.
