As a public school special education student.
Parenting is very humbling, isn't it?
The IEP went well.
Bug will attend five days a week, for 2.5 hours. I will be driving him. Bus service is available if we want it (They said he will probably come home and ask to ride the bus
, that all the kids love it
) If he wants to ride the bus, I will consider it, but I really want to drive him.
I met his teacher, she was so kind and calm and nice
He starts on Monday, His class is all boys!
It is just a coincidence, they started the year with three girls, but they all moved away
I'm thrilled for Bug, all boys to play and interact with. All my friends had girls first, and he is always with his sisters... When I visited the teacher, all the kids were riding bikes and trikes in the gym. All of them. In a circle
! I told the teacher that Bug doesn't ride a bike, and she said, "Oh he will!"

I think it is the perfect fit for him.
I'm still sad, it was harder than I expected (emotionally), and easier than I expected (I really expected to have to "fight" for services, but it wasn't that way at all). I did have to fill out an entire ream of paper, and show more personal documents than I needed to qualify for a mortgage to prove residency...
So, now we're off. He starts on Monday...
Sounds wonderful for him:) He will be riding before you know it
Blessings,
Shelley
GO BUG GO!!!!
That sounds great! And I love your kid's nick names....cute
Congratulations! This will be good for both of you.I am sure that Bug is going to love preschool. My son had never been away from me when he started public preschool at three. It only took him one day to figure out that he liked school. After the first day he would push me out the door if he thought that I was hanging around too long when I dropped him off. Aaaah, I remember that day a year ago when we first sent Adam off to school, and I was soooo non-trusting, thinking that they didn't know him as well as I did and being a nervous wreck! He goes 5 days a week, from 8 to 11 AM class. and I thank God now that I did it. He is making such progress, he loves the interaction with the other kids and I get a much needed break. Be proud MOM!! Your son will be having fun and you can sit around the first couple of days and wonder what the heck to do with the free time!!
