tzoya .. you may be able to answer this one.
Nick was supposed to start getting a SEIT in his pre-k class 3x a week starting mid-January per his IEP.
He still has not gotten anyone.
I was on the phone with the Special Programs Director, and she said they are trying, but there isn't anyone available. There just isn't enough special education teachers out there that are qualified and applying for positions.
She understands my frustrations, she is bugging the administration to find someone, but there just isn't anyone available.
What do I do now? There will (hopefully) be someone that is available first w/o March, but no guarantees.
Count up the number of missed times so far. Send the number of hours missed to the CPSE Chairperson, copying the Director of Special Education. Tell them that the District is out of compliance with your son's IEP (quote the part of the IEP that delineates the SEIT services) and tell them that you expect them to put this service in place immediately PLUS give your son X # of hrs. of compensatory SEIT time. Ask that they confirm this in writing to you. Copy anyone you think might be interested. KEEP a copy in your chronological file of written correspondence with the District.
