Travel HELP!!! | Autism PDD

I am really hoping someone could help me out here! We will be travelling by plane next month down to Florida for a vacation. This is the first time since we started giving our son supplements we will be flying. I have heard the airports started this "no liquids" policy. I was wondering how I am going to bring all his supplements on the plane. I know it will actually be easy for me to bring his B12 shots because we have a rx for those. It's the liquids like his Melatonin, DMG & DHA oil that I think they are going to give me a hard time about. Especially since they also have to be kept cold.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Call the airline to see what the requirements are ...maybe you just need to get a rx for them too...even though they are otc. What is the airline?

I believe issue with the liquids is for carry on (in most instances).  The site above proides the same information that I found when I was looking for the same info from a specific airline, ie US Airways or Delta.  So you can always log on to their website and just to make doubly sure, give them a call.  Would you have a problem putting the SNT and other liquids in the check in bags?

Yes, this issue would be for carry on. Most people don't want to put meds in checked bag for fear that it will get lost/put on wrong flight...that has happened to MIL twice in the last year. I never would put Payne's meds in checked bag or dh for that matter. Too important to lose it. I found this site - maybe it will help

Please post what you find out as we are going to Florida this summer and would love to know what they say!!!I thought they had partically lifted the ban on liquids. I dont remember the size of container you are aloud to bring but I would call the airlines and ask them

This is the latest on air-travelling:

On Tuesday, September 26, TSA adjusted the ban on liquids, gels, and aerosols.

Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.

With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.

  1. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.
  2. All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.
  3. Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items.

Also, you can check out my website, http://www.best-autism-help.com and read "traveling with autism." for air travel ideas and points... hope it's helpful!

Good Luck!
