I am a Sunday School teacher who needs some advice. We are a small church, with a about 100 members. Now we have two children with autism. One child is 15 and one child is about 10.I am not sure the best way to teach. They are coming from a rough home life. I can tell he wants to learn in my class, but he cant be still and stop his outburst. Please Help..Do you have any advice..I wont give up on this child!! Thank YouIf you've met one child with autism, you've met one child with autism. These children could be very high functioning or very low functioning or somewhere in between. That said, typically kids with autism learn visually. I taught my son a lot about the basic Bible stories using the Beginner's Bible video series. Having someone sitting with each one helping them follow along with the lesson can help. They might not fit in with their age peers. Developmentally, they may be younger and may get along better with younger kids and may enjoy them better. Or the opposite. They might do better with much older people, who can mentor them. Teaching them is a wonderful ministery. Thank you for taking this on.
