Bonnie congratulations for making it through such a hectic time in your families life and for the success you had with the costumes and play! What a great accomplishment! Glad to hear it all turned out so well!

ALso SO glad to have you back! We have missed you on the board!

Thanks Ladies!    Stephanie, Jacob is riding everywhere on his bike!   So far he hasn't made it across the major highway that is near our home, but it is not for lack of trying!  Sometimes a good thing leads to a bad thing!   So far so good though.....he has been a bit too adventureous at getting around the neighbor hood with out  anyone with him.....he's sneeky!

welcomr back bonnie

Take care,

Hi all!    I've been so busy the past few weeks I feel like I have missed you all!    I have been working on creating animal and other costumes for a musical production of "Children of Eden"     put on by our local theatre group.  It was a lot of work and stressfull working with a director who is very much like an Aspie herself!!     We had 4 performances this week and filled the house each night.   It was such a rewarding experience to hear the audience give applause for the costumes themselves....literally all the elephants had to do was walk on stage and the audience was amazed.....not to brag....they turned out really well after spending 3 days around the clock working on them.    They were life size heads with huge flopping ears and one with tusks...the giraffes also got applause (they were almost 11 feet high) as did the zebras which were very lifelike.   i had help  crafting 15 more pairs of animals....most with out patterns (the director couldn't pick easy ones!)   I received many compliments on them which made it all worthwhile.

My oldest son (with aspergers) and daughter were in the play as zebra and gazelle, and storytellers in the chorus with 60 others on stage.

It has been such a stressful month with all of this going on and juggling the kids!   I am looking forward to getting my home back in order.    The kids have 2 more plays they want to be in this summer......101 Dalmations for the little ones and Pipi Longstocking for the older ones (bryce will be a production assistant)

Theatre can be a great  avenue to explore for kids on the spectrum!    With the great memorization skills some of them have they can really excell at it!   and it gives them a place to be accepted.

Well....I'll try to be more involved here.     I wish   you all the best!   My heart goes out to each of you as you are struggling through hard times....hang in there! Things do get better!    Our kids are worth every moment of heartache and will reward us with many moments of joy when we get them the right help and understanding that they need!   God bless!    bonnie welcome back Bonnie..you always have such a positive and uplifting tone to your post! How's Jacob's bike-riding coming along?
