school bus- what are my rights?? *urgent* | Autism PDD

Well I KNOW here where I live In Cape Breton Canada our school board is really good in the sence that if I were to threaten to take my son out of school being ASD/PDD because he was scaerd to take the bus because of a change like that they would cab him to and from school. There are ALOT of kids with taxied because of bus issues or they require to go to schools not by their homes, maybe you could look into that. I hope it works out for you I know if it was My SON I would be EXACTLY where you are I hate the politics that goes into the schools the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$never mind the kids it is all money i took my son out of a school last year i threatned to call the news this was b4 i had him diagniosed he was calling me EVERYday to come get him he was being bullied and when i finally did pull him OUT the man that would let him use the phone the secratary had the NERVE to tell me OH Bryden he is in here EVERYDAY calling u well let me tell u LOL there was not 1 person in that school did not hear me rip a piece off him he was so importent he could not ask a little boy what the problem was right? then the school board was NOT going to let me change schools after 2 months of bry being bullied and beat and NO ONE did anything for him NO ONE and he would report it i phoned he was told he had to stop tattling they did let me transfer him! the other school had  the other school bus come 2 mins down the road JUST for BRYDEN so kick SCREAM HOLLER do what you have to do to make these PPL listen to ONLY you have the power to do that I love the saying " YOU can ONLY intimadate ME if I GIVE you that POWER"  DarleneI need some advice!

my 5 year old is in an Early Childhood class. He's been riding the bus for a while now, and I'm ok with that only because the school is literally about 2 blocks from our house. It's just easier for us because I don't have a car during the day & the weather does not always permit us to walk

The last couple weeks they have added a child or changed the route somehow? and he's riding on the bus MUCH longer. His class gets out at 3:00 and he gets home at 3:45
3:45!!!!!!???? that's INSANE. He lives 2 blocks away!!

My son has also not wanted to go to school the last two weeks and the only thing I can tell that is different is the longer bus ride (he won't tell me what's bothering him)

The thing that REALLY freaks me out is he's the last kid on the bus & I have no idea how long he's just riding alone with the driver.
I'm not trying to be a creep, but I don't trust just anyone with my son. He can't tell me what happens during the day, he can't tell me if he thinks the driver is mean or not etc etc

Now he's had a sub for the last week & 1/2 and the guy is disgusting. I'm SORRY! I should NOT judge people by their appearance, but if you saw this guy you would NOT be comfortable leaving your 5 year old child with him! *shudder*

I asked the bus company if they could someone change the route to have him dropped off sooner, based on the fact that he lives around the corner!
But they said there's nothing they can do because they now go straight from school to another school & pick up the kids there, then they drive across town & backtrack (thus my child is riding all over town when he could be home in 2 minutes)
(sigh)

***I want to know I NEED to know what my RIGHTS are , legally.
I am calling the manager of the bus company this afternoon & I need to know what I can demand from them to eliminate this super long bus ride that I am CERTAINLY not comfortable with, and obviously niether is my son since he is suddenly not wanting to go to school anymore! ****

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!

As far as I know from personal experience they don't have to go in a particular order, but I would like for you to know that you can have an IEP that states he has to be on a bus w/ an aide (mine does and has since he was 3) **This is the part that will scare you...Payne has ridden the bus and gone to public school full days since 3...a cpl of years ago he started not wanting to ride the bus...couldn't figure it out...nice people....turns out that the aide at SCHOOL was hitting him (yes, she was let go - after my attorney threatened to sue the school, etc) and she was the one putting him on the bus - was also the one taking him to the bathroom (he kept having accidents and was withholding) he also thought he was being bad...we told him he was to tell mommy if anyone did anything like that. We are doing good now...therapy...etc. The conditions of me not suing were that I would pick the school and the specific teacher...interview...background, etc. He would not ride the bus so I took him to school. I was the PTO sect'y and the volunteer coordinator...so they NEVER knew when I would be popping in.  Payne's Mom39128.4562152778
