I don't want to get into the rights and wrongs of this, because opinions and what is "legal" per a school board are a fine line sometimes. BUT, you are doing the right thing by setting up a meeting if you have concerns. That's about all you can do at this point. I know that there is a certain amount of days that a "sub" can be in the classroom with no questions asked.
Unfortunately, no. They can do what they want as long as they substitute a person. Our district turned over several people and I heard word of mouth. Then the new person just writes a letter like normal. Make sure that the substitute is staying permanently and not just filling in temporarily.

My son is in 6th Grade. Evidently his case manager at the school is being let go. My son had mentioned she was gone, but I assumed she was sick or something. Well when we were at his therapy place the other day we find out the lady has been fired for some reason or another. The school had said nothing, there was no communication. I did email the principal and let him know that I thought parents and kids affected should have been let know.
2 days later we get a generic letter home saying that the person is on paid leave and a substitute is in place. However this substitute knows nothing about my son's case. I am now going to set up a meeting with the school and make sure we are all on the same page regarding my son.
Doesn't the school have some kind of obligation in a case like this to inform parents when the main Special Ed person is gone?
