Many of the Canadians in these forums have posted that there are few Canadian laws covering special education, however, that could depend on the Province.  You might try pm'ing Donny's Mom.  She's in BC and knows TONS.

Fri. the District told me they had no money and all they could give me was 3hrs/wk home support til Sept. I phoned the head of the neighbouring SD and he explained that they had to offer me the same support in Feb. that they would have had he enrolled in Sept. It is unfortunate that they are in debt but that is not my problem and not an excuse. I also called the Ombudsman's office (not exactly sure what they do - investigate wrongdoings of gov. I think) Anyway, they were definately interested and opened a file. I'm not sure what changed their minds, but in the middle of drafting a letter to the district on Mon. I got a call offering more support than I was requesting!

There is still the hiring of a support which I've been warned could be difficult due to lack of skilled staff avail. here. I'm hoping for the best and willing to work with anyone who likes(loves) my kid and wants to learn. In my former life this was the job I held for years. It sure is strange to be on the other side of the table.

Sam and I are both looking forward to starting our newest adventure in education.

I also wanted to add that I am learning alot following the Emotions to Advocacy thread. Although the laws are different in Canada, I've already learned a few useful skills. I wish I could find something similar here. If anyone knows of a site that talks about Canadian laws, please share.
