Hi all. I have a 9 year old with high functioning autism. He has only been involved in social skills groups at school and those have been limited and not of great quality - he's made small progress. I'd like to start him in an after school intense social skills program, but the cost is astronomical. Is anyone aware of any financial aid programs for social skills groups? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

SOME special needs schools for Developmentally Disabled or Mentally Retarded have a fmaily resource center. That would be a good place to start to ask for resources available in your area. Also ask your local department of jobs and family services, your local mental health facility, ask local churches who donate money too.
