question regarding newborn - Aus. sibling | Autism PDD

Share

I personally would not vaccinate the child until he/she was much older, near 5 or 6. Even then only giving one to two a year. Not only can mercury in vaccines be an insult to a weak immune system but the aluminum, arsenia, antifreeze as well as other harmful ingredients can be. This is a controversial issue however I have yet to find a parent or professional who would inject these ingredients into their body given in doses that are in vaccines. One vaccine seems ok but when you start combining them and adding the amount of harmful ingredients you can have neurological issues come about.

You might also be able to apply for EI services for the baby since he is "at risk" based on his family history.  Sometimes EI is used as a preventative measure for premies it might be able to be used in your situation.

keep the baby very stimulated too on people not so much objects and television.  Congrats on the adoption!!!!

Hello,

I'm new here.  I have an adopted son who is 6 that is PDD, a son who is 10 that is Asperger's and 48 hours ago became the mom of a new son (to be adopted). My new son has 2 biological siblings that are autistic (and two that are not.)  One is pretty severe, the other is higher functioning.

If you were me, and had the information I have just given you, what decisions would you make regarding prevention for the newborn.  My biggest dilemma right now is formula choice.  Does it make sense to consider one where the proteins are broken down already? how about Soy?

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Amanda

First thing I'd say is to protect the immune system.  Is there ANY way you can access a breast milk bank? (we have them in AUS don't know about US)

I think it is so important the baby get breast milk to protect it.  It just makes me want to ship you some of mine, I have heaps!

If it were me I'd definately not immunze and hold off all solids untill at least 6 months.

Good luck it is just so hard to know what to do to protect them, I really understand, I'm going through the same thing.

((((HUGS))))

Just wanted to add that soy is not ever recommended for infants unless they MUST have it.

Soy contains chemicals that mimic estrogen in the body which can through out balances for young people.

find breast milk bank.

no vaccines.

No food for 12 months.

Then, GFCF diet, with rice or potato milk.

Know signs: my daughter showed signs at 10-12 months but I didn't know enough to realize...If the baby starts showing signs, start therapies immediately.

I know you all don't know me...I JUST joined the group.

I wanted to mention that I went to the Autism Speaks conf. in Chicago last year, and one thing I learned is that Soy Formula is a huge no-no.  I too have a newborn, and I'm all about preventing anything from bringing out the Autism symptoms in this baby.  I take the new baby to a Neonatologist for advice and developmental assistance.  Do you have access to one?

Did you know it is possible to start breastfeeding even if you have never
been pregnant? Bodys are amazing! It takes a little time and effort, but it
would be worth it, not only because breastmilk is best, but it would help
with bonding and attachment too. Contact your local breastfeeding
association or LaLecheLeague for expert help. You use a supply line to feed
formula at the breast, rewarding babys suction efforts with food until the
nipple stimulation causes lactation to begin and you can stop the formula.
You can also take meds that stimulate lactation, but I can't remember what!
Congratulations and goodluck!
