CAMP CARD NE is a social enrichment program for children with an autism spectrum disorder between the ages of 5-12 years old. The program runs for two- four week sessions (Tues-Wed-Thurs half day) at the Hilton-Winn Farm in Ogunquit, Maine. This summer camp experience is located in a beautiful setting with structured learning opportunities specifically tailored to the campers needs
CAMP CARD NE will offer gentle guided opportunities for the child with autism spectrum disorder to respond to social reinforcers and learn formal imitation skills. The social enrichment program provides environmental education activities that would be modified to safely support the child with autism. Art, music, sensory, and social development activities are designed to match the unique strengths and needs of individuals with ASD. Self-esteem and social confidence are boosted at camp due to the relaxed and accepting environment.
ABILITY LEVEL: HFA, ASPERGER’S SYNDROME, RELATED SOCIAL ABILITY
CAMP CARD NE is a social enrichment camp for children with high functioning autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s syndrome and/or related social disabilities between the ages of 9-15 years old. The program runs for two- four week sessions (Tues-Wed-Thurs half day) at the Hilton-Winn Farm in Ogunquit, Maine. This summer camp experience is located in a beautiful setting with structured learning opportunities specifically tailored to the camper’s needs.
CAMP CARD NE will offer gentle guided opportunities for the camper to improve social awareness and develop imitation skills through peer modeling and direct instruction. Peer models are a key element of this camp.
CAMP CARD NE believes that our community environment promotes relationship building, and allows us to meet the individual needs of each camper. Camp CARD NE guides campers through the process of developing lasting friendships. We also focus on teaching behavior and anger management skills and broadening communication skills. We hold campers to a high level of personal accountability, to help them gain independence and confidence.
