Lucy,
I'm the parent of a 14 year old. I have an older son that has helped with some of the puberty issues, but otherwise, we've been very fortunate. I'm here a lot, so I'll watch for your posts.

Have a 17 yr old with PDD-NOS. He'll be 18 in November.Just a note to say thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully things will work out. Today my son filled out another application to work for a company that makes ceramic mugs. The company is busy and is down 5 positions. So there are many hours available for my son to keep him busy for the summer. Hopefully one of our former job coaches will be able to assist him. He essentially has the job if he wants it, but they want him to work 8 hr. days. Even if it's too much (and it probably is) I think he should try. We have always pushed Sam to be assertive. He will keep his other job at the FF restaurant. I want to pass on to others that we heard about this job through a friend who has employment there. Networking with others is extremely important.
Good luck!!! I am not at that age with my two yet. But if so far is any indication on how they will act, I am dreading it.

Hi and welcome! My oldest just turned 16 and has aspergers. He is doing very well, after years of work with ST, PT and social skills training. He went through the puberty thing earlier than the other boys in his class and he is the youngest! He was pretty self conscious about it and was getting teased in the locker room so we had an adaptation put on his IEP that he be permitted to dress in a separate room from the others. Now that hte other boys have cought up it isn't such an issue.
Tonight he started to feel
sick on stage and had to leave the stage in the middle of a
song.....luckily there were about 50 others on stage and he was just
part of the chorus! One lucky thing for him is he doesn't
seem to show any embarassment......just goes right back on as if
nothing has happened. We have 2 more performances this
week! What will happen next? He is
always full of surprises!!hello and welcome, i have a 19 year old son. have checked around and have not found another site just for teens. most difficulty i have found is trying to do age appropriate things with him. he has a nt brother who is 18 so that helps he will take him to things that are age appropriate. my son on low functioning side and non verbal. he is in school until age 21 in a program learning how to work. we live in pa. write back and we can compare notes. i also have a few email buddies in africa and england who have autistic teens. they have the same issues all over the world.
Just wondering if there is a forum to discuss teen related issues? Son is almost 18. PDD-NOS. I have checked out the Aspergers forum but it doesn't seem appropriate. Any ideas????Lucy,
There are parents on this forum who have teens... BonnieK, Col, just to name the ones off the top of my head that I remember... hopefully one of them will be around to say hello. In the meantime, welcome to the board and feel free to post whatever you like... there are plenty of parents here who might not be able to offer advice as far as a teen goes, but they can offer support and a listening ear *smiles*
