Hi I have twin boys with autism and looking to talk

Hi and welcome to the board.  Here is a link on the do's and don'ts online  http://www.autism-pdd.net/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=981& PN=2   I noticed in your username it seems like you are using your real name.  The FBI strongly urges people never to use their real name online or to give it out.
If we had known that Luke had PDD NOS before I became pregnant, we may have waited until Luke was well-established in his therapy routine before having another child ... just be/c getting everything started is such hard work.  However, as Tammy said, God gives you what you can handle and whether or not our 2nd son is autistic, I'll love and cherish him all the same.   And besides ... I'm 36 and can't wait much longer to have kids!!  (We'd like 3 altogether, so the clock is ticking!! )

That is not true in my case.  Jeffrey is older than Gabe and he has autism.  Gabe has pdd-nos.

Hi!   I have 2 of my 4 kids on the spectrum.    I couldn't imagine life without any of them!    Each is so unique and fun!   Sure they can be challenging at times but if I had to do over again, knowing the risk  .....I'd do it in a heartbeat!!

I have to agree with bonnie.  I love all my kids the way they are.  I'm not saying I don't try to help them.  But their conditions are secondary to me.  My oldest is probably the highest funtioning, meaning he outfunctions all of us...LOL and my youngest is very close to seeming NT.  Her habits are diminishing daily.  Not that she doesn't have her moments from time to time.  It's our middle one that has the most stresses of everyday life.  He is very high funtioning, but I would say compared to the others, he's more "moderate".  We are getting there slowly but surely....

All 3 of mine are on the spectrum.  My 6 yr old has apergers my 5 year old has hfa and my 3 yr old (only girl) has mild PDD.  And now my NT 16 month old nephew lives with us.  Can life GET any more exciting??  LOL

Sure it can , you could be looking for camels in swimming pools!!!!!

I thought that the percentage of having a second child on the spectrum was only 10% where as the rest of the population is 5 %.

My partner and I have been discussing trying in a year (lol, I like to plan ahead :P).  I don't know if I have the strength to have two kids on the spectrum and was using statistics to feel better :P  Are the stats I got incorrect??

I really admire you guys :) :)

Its a gamble like with anything.  And sometimes you get dealt a bad hand.  But you learn to deal with it.  Because I believe God only give you what He knows you can handle.
