I have been trying to catch up on posts and haven't posted much. Things are going really well with my guy in his new placement this year. I wanted to update all of you on an exciting development. As you all know I earned by BCBA in the fall. So in addition to having a son with autism, I also teach a wonderful bunch of boys with autism at school. My administrator has been working on a project since I started the BCBA coursework a while back. I work for a county wide agency here in NY and we have a few agencies we consult with for our students. Well, I am getting the shot of a lifetime! My principal informed me that it is my last year in the classroom as they are making me the BCBA for our school (we don't have any others in our whole program). The goal is for me to create an autism program in my school that will then expand to our other sites in the county. I am so excited that I can really impact change and make a difference for the kids in this area!!!!!!! I just wanted to share with all of you!!!This is GREAT!!!! New York is the only state that REQUIRES autism consultation as a part of its education law. You are well placed to have many opportunities open given the huge need plus the law that backs up what you do. Do you mind letting us know what school you work for and/or the area of N.Y.?
