Sorry...........iti s a hyperbaric chamber.....like the ones used for divers. There is priliminary research coming out that it increases blood flow in the brains of kids with autism where the flow was previously limited. You can go to a center to use one (but most places won't do it as they say it isn't approved for anything but diving). We were able to get one of the home units a few months ago. My husband works for a tv station here and we are going to be eventually doing a story and running it on the stations website.

What is hyperbarics??
Has anyone tried this treatment yet? We were able to purchase a home unit and are seeing promising results and wondered what others saw. The great thing about the mhbot is that we could bring in drinks, food and a portable dvd player. So there wasn't an issue. It is really spacious if you get one of the large ones. There is a place called Miracle Montain in NC that offers dives for the hard chamber and it is super inexpensive...like aorund -40 a dive...they offer lodging there that is around the same price per night. There is a group of us looking to rent one for 00 a month. So maybe that is an option...find a company that rents and do a join rental b/w 2-4 people. Our home chamber cost around ,000. My husband works for a TV station here and shoots their commercials. He struck a deal with the HBOT owner that we would film John's progress and the health reporter is going to do it with us. Then it would run on the tv stations site as well as the HBOT site....he knocked off ,000 for that. Like I said....we are very lucky to have had all this fall into place the way it did. Hi Tricia! My ds had 4 sessions at a clinic a few hours away, a few months ago...and we did notice a difference right away (after 2nd session I believe). He began to say things that he'd never said before, like "Hi daddy, this is Matthew" when dh called from work. Unfortunately we do not have a rich uncle
Allegra, you'd be surprised how comfy they are inside....really! I got inside of course, with Matthew because I just knew he'd hate it and I'd have to try to distract him. Do you know that even now, months later he asks to go there to "the tent" (that is what he called it, a 'tent'
I just stumbled upon this message board and saw that HBOT was the topic and that Miracle Mountain was mentioned. We took our son, Ross, there just after his 4th birthday (he is now 5). To get more information go to www.miraclemountain.com. The expenses were extremely reasonable. For 40 dives over 20 days and lodging the total was approximately 00.00 which also included the Oxysound Harmonics program (similar to AIT which typically runs 00.00 for 10 days). Below are my comments on the improvements we saw with Ross. I hope this helps and is not too long! We did observe significant differences in Ross. Our first observation was when my husband and I were standing on the deck of the house at a group barbecue and Ross ran up to my husband and asked “Hey Dad, do you want to play ball?” We were both astonished because Ross typically used fragmented sentences or much shorter ones. This was the most complex statement/question we had ever heard from him. This occurred after only 11 dives. His therapists reported improvements in his communication and behavior right away as well. I did not tell a few key therapists about our trip to Miracle Mountain to find out if they would notice any differences without bias. They did notice improvements as well. I I am not sure that our results are typical and know from talking to other parents that were at A recent study was conducted and published in 2006 entitled,Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment May Improve Symptoms in Autistic Chidren, by Daniel and Lanier Rossignol in the Medical Hypotheses Journal, which found improvements in communication, etc. following HBOT. If you are interested in reading this research let me know and I can forward it to you. The article noted that younger children did better. Not, that older kids will not do well but they may require more than 40 dives to see improvements. This sounds so interesting! I will be checking into it in Minnesota. I know that my son would be scared at first, but if I let him explore like you let your son explore it, I know he would do it. It is like they have to have that power, to check things out before they try it. I am glad that you are seeing some improvements. Thank you for the information. Also, Allegra, with Sharlet, have you tried letting her hold one of those shower heads that has a hose? I just got one for Eric and he is in that shower for at least half an hour now. Of course, with Eric, he has always loved water. I know that the shower thing wasn't really the subject of this string, but I just wanted to mention it. And the picture of Sharlet is just SO cute! mommaniki My son is using HBOT now in conjunction with a supplement called Monavie Active. He has only had 2 dives and it is incredible. He is very high functioning, but I still have seen differences after each dive. Check out our story http://www.mymonavie.com/hartigan/mystory.asp I have done lots of research and have composed lots of testimonials if anyone is interested. Also we share the product with people for free. If it helps your child as much as it has helped mine, you will want to get it for them. I witnessed several children coming out of the chambers, they all seemed quite relaxed and happy. I was waiting for my first appointment with a DAN doctor and the waiting room was right next to the hbot room. All the children went in with their moms, and according to the doctor I saw the mom's also benefit from this treatment.
I have seen footage of parents forcing their children to get in them, the child hysterrical and looking very upset about being in there. In that case I don't personally think it's right. The child should have rights. JMHO
No, I couldn't force Matthew to do it. For one, he's a very strong boy...very strong! For another, it would break my heart to do that to him!
