| I am raising my 3 yr old grandson whom i always suspected as being autistic but recently was confirmed. I am very dedicated to saving my child from this disease but would like to conect with other families in ohio for emotional support . I live in Lake county Ohio. My son is 5 years old and is autistic. Is your grandson going to preschool? There is alot out there for you and grandson. Please e-mail me at cassidystang2@sbcglobal.net. HI there,
Not sure where lake county is but im assuming it is near cleveland. My grandson is in early intervention and I am also helping run a local support group. We are organizing a playgroup once a week for ASD children in our area along with some kids with no problems to act as role models for them. On top of that I am working with my YMCA to put together a 1 week camp in summer 2008 for children and their parents in the area of sensory integration. would like to keep in touch as support if you dont mind. freebird356@yahoo.com HI there my name is Julie and I live in Huber Heights OH. My son Adam just turned seven and he has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS. I would love to talk to anyone from Ohio. I am not having much luck with getting help for my son. The school doesn't really seem interested in helping us. You can email me at larman36@juno.com. Hope to hear from someone.I live in williams county-- northwest corner. My son is 4 and a half. We tried the special needs preschool in our town, but it was not for autistic children. Now we are taking advantage of Ohio's autism scholarship. That is $20,000 per year for therapies and interventions. He goes to a center for autistic children where he gets speech, OT... It seems too good to be true, but we are definitely thankful for it. Check out the Ohio department of education website. I think the guy I talked to was Paul Sogan. I live in springfield and I'm also taking advantage of the Ohio autism scholarship. It is wonderful, and I also talked to Paul Sogan. It is very easy and I agree with Ryan's mom, It does seem to good to be true. My son started a new private school in December and it is the best. They do not provide OT, PT or ST but he already had a private OT that he see's once a week.Hello Everyone,
Sorry no posts in awhile but been kinda hectic here. We have received a second diagnosis on our grandson now.............Sensory Integrated Dysfunction. We are thinking of placing him into the SAIL school in Toledo , Ohio if i can get medicaid to pay for his ABA then I will use the scholarship for his schooling at sails. I have since gotten into selling discovery toys if anyone is interested in educational toys books and games please leave me an email at freebird356@yahoo.com thank you very much Cheryl I live in Bryan- near Toledo, and have heard good things about the SAIL school-- some families have moved from Bryan to be closer to the school. My son has the sensory needs as well. He needs a "sensory diet" which is a list of interventions that work like joint compressions, brushing, sensory swing... It is amazing how little things like that can help him focus and learn. You will need an IEP or evaluation to get the scholarship I believe. If your grandson is three, the public school is responsible for doing that testing.this is being bumped for someone looking for help in ohio.
I'm in Ohio too..... Please PM me. |
