Air Force,Newly diagnosed son, HELP! | Autism PDD

Share

Hello, I am  New Here.  Were in the process of going through the SNIAC EFMP program to get a reassignment after my sons diagnosis just a couple of weeks ago.  The lady in charge of the program told me to research good bases to go to, I did a post on the STOMP site and got a few responses that really just seemed to confuse me more, some say they love a base, others say they hate the same base.  Its so frustrating. Plus were over here in Germany -   I was just wondering if there are any other Air Force families on here, if you would mind telling me where you are and if you like it or not.  Aidan is 2.5.  Hes been diagnosed as Moderate Classical autism.  The developmental pediatrician recommended ABA.  He is getting OT and Speech.  I am so overwhelmed so could use any input you may have to offer.

Thanks in advance!

You are quite welcome.  Let me know if don't hear back from her.

Mary - thank you so much!  I really appreciate it!  Oh Wow, that would be awesome because my parents live in maryland down near Ocean City so it wouldnt be too far!  I am so grateful for your post.  Thanks and I hope to find the contact you mentioned!

Actually, I just sent an e-mail to her... contact info is LY1998@netzero.com.  Again, her name is Yolanda Flanagan and she is quite helpful.  Her son, Jacob, is about 7 now.  That should save you the searching.

Good luck!

Mary

I have an acquaintance (internet, mom of a boy with autism) who's husband is Air Force.  They requested transfer to Dover DE AFB because of schools for their son.  As I understand, they have been there about 2 yrs now and are very pleased with the programs.

We actually are planning on moving to DE this summer; that is how I became connected to her.  If interested, Google Delaware Autism Society... her name is Yolanda Flanagan and I believe there is a link on their site (I think she is a parent advocate for Kent County/Dover area).  I'm sure she would be glad to share their experience with the AF and transferring.

Mary
