I live in NJ, the south end.  My son is three and he goes to the Gloucester County Special Services Child Development Center.  It is in Turnersville which is in Gloucester County.  We live in Camden county. Currently they are building a huge new school for them in Deptford which has classrooms that teach life skills in addition to academic.  They have rooms set up that look like seperate rooms in a apartment to work on teaching our children how to live by themselves or with a room mate.  I cant wait.  I t should be ready for the 2007/2008 school year.

We were thinking about moving into burlington county and did some research on the schools.  Hamilton came up very high.  Is is around exit 8 on the turnpike.  I think it is the second largest school district in the state.  I spoke with the director of special services and she was verrry helpful.  Unfortunately we cannot afford a house on the "good" side of hamilton (steinert school).

I didnt like Bancroft in Cherry Hill.  Seemed dirty and cluttered.  also the classrooms were cramped and it is located in a very busy area where traffic is a nightmare :(   I have heard mixed reviews for different doctors.  our dev ped recommends but our reg ped says no way especially since it changed owners again

I also researched mercer county special services.  It has an excellant reputation.  Alot of parents are very pleased with their children going there.

Check out The Lark Schools.  I have not researched them and do not know where they are but i have heard other parents talk about it.

I also looked at Camden County Special services in Gibbsboro and Collingswood.  Saint John of God in Cherry Hill (i think).

Supposedly Cherry Hill School district has an excellant in district autism program as well as Washington Township.

Eden (aka WAWA house) is in Hammonton I believe.  That is south of me and I live 20 minutes outside of Philly.  I have heard great things about that school as well but have not observed it myself.  I heard it is for the more severe autistic child.

I hope this helps.  PM me if you need any more info.  Good luck

I am interested in finding a specific school in New Jersey dealing with autism. Hopefully in Passaic or Bergan County.

Try renaming your post "NJ schools" and you may get more responses.  Also, post your child's age and functioning.  I live on Long Island, but I've heard of Eden in NJ.Where is he placed in school right now?  What services are on his IEP?  I know of a school called bancroft it is loctaed in cherry hill new jersey witch is in camden county just thought i would let you know..
