Is there some sort of standardized test that I could arrange to have him take to get an answer once and for all??
He is the absolute light of my life and I just want to raise him the best way I know how, but I feel like I'm facing a huge roadblock since no one seems to be able to give me a concrete diagnosis....Any help would be appreciated.. muskoka_meow@yahoo.ca

Hi Muskoka Welcome to the board. If you are in Canada here are some links Autism Resources In Canada maybe it will help you.
If you go to the sticky at the top of the page there are some online tests to take to see if there is a possibility of a ASD or PDD diagnosis, but it is not ment to for diagnosis purpose just to take to your dr. There are a few people here from Canada that might also be able to help.
Autism is diagnosed by observation.... but there is some info on the different categories and the DSMIV criteria here PDD vs. ASD?
I'm sure you'll find a lot of the info you're seeking in the website Michelle posted. It's very tough to know there's a problem and not be able to find someone to give you a concrete reason as to what's happening. Good luck finding the answers and in the meantime hopefully you can get speech therapy initiated (especially if he's not speaking much at his age) and if he has any fine motor delays seek occupational therapy as well.
