TREVOR IS 3 YEARS OLD TODAY!!!!!! I am very sad that Trevor does not really know that it is his Birthday. I keep singing to him and making a big deal about it, but he seems to not really understand. We told him that we are going to go to Toys R us and he can get anything that he wants and he keeps saying "toys" "toys" so he gets that part but not really anything else. Is this a normal thing for Autistic children to do?
Happy Birthday Trevor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Amber
Joshua will be 3 in Aug. and I know he won't understand either
I think what he knows is a few days up in late April the house comes alive in celebrating him! Sorry it's a day late but HAPPY BIRTHDAY TREVOR ! All these kids no matter how alike they are are also very different from one another. What some do others may never do. My son is 9 3/4. He still doesn't understand when his birthday or Christmas is coming. I don't see the excitement from him that I see in other kids. He has never woke up on Christmas morning (or his birthday) to show excitment! But he does enjoy opening gifts especially when they are things that he wants! I know other parents here have a hard time; their kids get distressed about Christmas trees and decorations and do not like new items in the house including new clothes, new toys, or even groceries! I don't know if my son will ever be able to express when he is excited over anything,..... but I can tell by his body language and that is enough for me.
is normal, I just wanted to wish him a happy birthday!
Understanding birthdays can be tricky for kids unless they have been to
lots of parties or seen lots of fuss made over people on their birthday.
I know that as it stands if my Leo gets to 3 and stays at the
developmental stage he is at now (which is quite low functioning) he
won't be aware of his birthday either.
