Hi,
I want to start some kind of biomed treatment with my son because I feel as if he is not gaining and holding on to as much info as he used to. He hasn't been on any kind of drugs or biomeds or diet before. I know there are many many things out there like, Vit B6 and magnesium, fish oil,Gaba, HTTP,DMG(don't know what the last three are) etc but If I were to start tomorrow what should i start with and where would I get it?
Nupur has offered very good advice.
Most DAN! doctors will want you to at least try the GF/CF diet for 3 months (it takes that long to be sure if your child does or doesn't have a reaction to gluten/casein) even if you do allergy testing and it shows no problems with these foods...because the tests are not always accurate no matter what lab you send them to. So if you've already begun the diet before seeing a DAN! (if you plan on seeing one that is) then you are at least one step ahead.
Thankyou for your suggeations. I think GFCF is the one thing most recommened so I might look into that and then move on.I can recommend the book "Children with Starving Brains" byHey
i checked and it said empty.

Notforsaken, I am sorry! I sent a pm to original poster. Sorry for the confusion!I'd stat with the gfcf diet. Start with removing casein(dairy) first and then move to gluten. Wait a week and then get a multivitamin. We got ours from Living well today formally known as Spectrum Biogenics. We started with stage 1 for a month and then stage 2 and then finally stage 3. We had to move back to stage 2 because he didnt react good with the TMG it had in it. Stage 1 and 2 our good for belly and the neurotransmitters in the brain. Always wait a week or two and then add another supplement to make sure there are no aggravations so you can move on. CLO is also good. It has the best form of vitamin A and D. It also has the omega 3's. It is also important to supplement with omega 6. You will need a probiotic for yeast control. Enzymes for proper food absorption and extra vitamins as well. It will take awhile to get all the supplements in but it is worth it. Before we tried vitamins, our sons behaviour was thru the roof and his bowel movements were horrible. Here is a sample vitamin schedule for our son.
Morning-Multivitamin and mineral and Nystatin fro yeast.
Afternoon- extra vitamin C and calcium-probiotic
Evening-muti ,vitamin C extra magnesium, probiotic, milk thistle
enzymes in between. MB-12 injections every 3 days.
Want more info just email me and i will help you along your way.

Thanks everybody. Has anyone tried liverlife? It's not a fish oil, is it? what does it do? Can you give that as well as all the other stuff?
We started my step son on omega 3 (for kids 500mg and mercury free) about 2 months ago. Even though he has not been taking it on regular basis as the ex refuses to give it to him, we have seen a huge improvement in concentration and behaviour (even his teacher has said so) plus he is off nappies. He is 8 so he should have been off nappies long ago (bedtime only) but I read somewhere that there might be a malfunction between the bain and bladder if omega-3 is non egsistant, and he doesn't eat fish. He is happy to take the oil, just on a spoon eventhough he hates the taste but for some reason doesn't make a fuss. Maybe deep down he knows it's good for him. He wakes up early at 5 am and I just don't want to wake up ( I'm up at 6 - yay 1 extra hour of sleep) at that time and he just picks up educational books, writing, reading etc and does it on his own. We always struggled with him and had arguments about it with him not doing it, now it seems like his brain doesn't get enough of educational activity and he just craves it. He has gone through 4 books in 10 days and I'm running to the shops to find more :)His reading has improved amongst other things.
My son is on Juice Plus, which is a fruit & vegetable supplement. He also takes a Omega 3 supplement & we are faithful to our ABA therapy.
We've been wheat & dairy free for about a year & half now.
