Hey mom2carlos,

i agree that you should check out both places first. i also have heard that school districts wont take pdd-nos but will take the dx of asd, perhaps if you talk to drs, the could write a letter using that term instead. as for potty training, would he be exempt from that due to his iep and nuerological disorders affecting and causing physical limitations (ie self help skills- potty training) i would definately get an advocate and talk to a lawyer that is familiar with spec ed law and idea

thanks michelle and shakes352, no he wouldn't be exempt because of that. they said he HAS to be potty trained. well i'm working on it as hard as i can, he just doesn't get it most of the time.i will check into an advocate again and maybe a lawyer. thanks again. mom2carlowhat "they" say and what the law says are 2 different things, talk to an advocate...

My opinion,...... check out both places first and decide wheich you feel will better suit him.... My guess Special ed pre K,........ As far as needing to be potty trained,.... Do they really think parents enjoy keeping their kids in diapers? PLEASE!

In the mean time... GET AN ADVOCATE! Do you have a second opinion backing up the diagnosis? It may be necessary. If they don't or won't believe PDD-NOS... what are they saying it is?

Worse comes to worse get an attorney and make them listen to the diagnosis (if you feel the diagnosis fits)

Hello everyone i just need to get this off my chest. i had another iep today for carlo, and they gave me 2 choice:

1.Special Ed pre-k program this coming year and then the following year regular ed kindergarden at his home school. (which will put him a year behind).

2. Send him to his home school for kindergarden with some help from a teacher consultant.(ie has to be potty trained)

i'm so confused, they will not accept his pdd-nos dx at all not of it.
