Can you try to find an advocate?Can you post what is going to go before the Hearing OFficer? I know you posted something about it back when but I don't remember the issues. If you are trying to work out something with your District before Monday, DON'T LET ON THAT YOU HAVE NO LAWYER. If the District thinks you have a lawyer and that they may have to PAY for your lawyer should you win, they'll have more of an incentive to settle. If you post the issues, perhaps some of us will be able to give some advice prior to your hearing. Or at least sympathy.I am no lawyer, but isn't there a way to ask for a continuance under these circumstances? That way, you can find a lawyer you pay for and get real help from. If your case ends up sounding REALLY weak in front of the Hearing Officer, you could actually be charged for the District's lawyer. This is a new wrinkle -- parents who bring what is considered frivolous hearings CAN be charged the Disrtrict's lawyers fees if the Hearing OFficer orders it. Better make SURE you have a strong enough case that bringing the hearing doesn't come off as frivolous.
I believe we have a very strong case. I dont think the attorney took the time to actually read all the info i provided her.
I got that "I've got too many cases for one person" line from her several times. I knew from our first conversation she wasnt the kind of attorney we needed but she was free (based on our low family income) and we cant afford to pay for an attorney.
I am trying to work out a deal with our district. I am praying it works before tomorrow.

our lawyer who has been working with us for a few weeks now told us she cannot represent us because we have a weak case.
She has had our info for at least two weeks to review and now she is saying the district is doing right by us and we are fighting a battle we will never win.
I am so disgusted. She was a free lawyer from the protection and advocacy group. I sure feel like you get what you pay for.
This leaves us no time to find a new lawyer by monday so we will have to go in a plead our case on our own.
