Rapid Prompting Method | Autism PDD

Thanks!   Good to know.   Just about the time I think I have this Internet thing figured out, I learn something new.  I'll keep checking these posts, though.  I've learned a lot just from reading things that other people have submitted.

I cannot help as far as the Rapid Prompting Method.  I am trying THE LISTENING PROGRAM to try to get language out of my son.

We are actually starting it today.  He is alot younger then your daughter but again I am willing to try alot of different methodologys if it will help.

Good luck to you on your search

laineysmom..... There is a program in Austrlaia called the DORE program. I think it orginally came from the U.S. They have had good success from what I've read. Their program helps kids retrain their brain and develop alternate strategies.

bump?  What is "bump"?

it is a way to move a post.

If you reply to an older post, it moves that post up to the top of the page.  If you do that to a bunch of old posts, you can keep "bumping" down a new post that is hateful- such as the person advertising designer handbags.  Jump in anytime- it is nice to see the garbage disappear from the first page.

bumpThanks for the lead.  I had never heard of Advanced Brain Technologies, but it looks promising.  Jill is extremely left-handed and left-sided.  I understand that she needs to stimulate the left side of her brain for speech,  so I've been teaching her to use her right hand for everything from eating (very, very messy!) to opening the door, to writing her name (with assistance).  I'm already seeing improvements.  Her teachers are reporting good things as well.  I am encouraged.  Thanks again.  And best of luck to you as well.         & nbsp;    Lainey's momIt is obvious to anyone who spends a little time with my 16-year-old daughter, Jill, that there is a lot more going on with her than meets the eye.  We are lucky.  We have gotten through years of terrifying life-and-death moments and are now looking for ways to improve the quality of her (and our) life.   Communication seems to be Jill's most important issue at the moment.  She cannot speak, or even nod "yes" or "no".  I saw real excitement about the Rapid Prompting Method (Cure Autism Now) several years ago, but there doesn't seem to be much information lately.  Does anyone have any experience with this or other methods of communication?  We have travelled all over the country getting help for Jill.  I'm gearing up to  start again.  I could use a "vacation" (ha!)
