Check list for stimming | Autism PDD

Share

I wanted to share this checklist with you. I had to fill it out on the first day of the *More Than words* workshop. It really helped me to understand why Owen did the things he did, and what his sensory issues were.

If you click on the first 5 pictures in my photobucket account, you will see the checklist ( too much for me to write out! LOL) It may be helpful

Thanks....that is a good checklist. I have filled out sensory checklists
with his therapists, but they were not as informative....more just for
the therapists information.

Wow was that ever helpful! THANK YOU so much! I never even knew these things were anything. It's amazing all the little bits and pieces that make up the whole.

Thanks for that checklist. It was very helpful for me. Your Owen sounds so much like My Nick!  And Owen sure is a cutiepie!

That is Crazy! I would save the ! LOL If you can afford it I would buy the video as well. At least for me I am a visual learner. The best part is being able to see other parents use the stratagies. You could probably sell it on EBAY after you are done. Maybe even check if it is for sale there.

Thank you, Danielle!

What's odd is that the cost is the same whether one is in Canada or the US!  I don't get that!  Like, the book is Canadian or when ordering in the US it's .  Where's my US 'discount'?!!    I'm wondering if I should order it 'through Canada' and have it delivered to my in-laws and save by using my American credit card?!  The savings would be about !

Thank you so much for this Danielle...

I went through and "filled" it out.... wrote down everything that applied to Zach and I'm going to bring it to his next evaluation.... I'm also going to make a copy of it and send it to EI and ask them why the hell the OT first said yes Zach has some MILD sensory issues, then at his therapy session (the one where i came home in tears) said he doesn't really have any sensory issues.... but according to what I just wrote down from this checklist... Zach's sensory is all outta wack.... I'd like to have them explain that to me. *laughs*.  Basically from what I'm seeing from this form... Zach is severly under-sensitive Touch, Sound, Taste&Smell.... and severly over-sensitive in Sight and Movement....very interesting... thanks again.

When Owen has his 45 mins assessment for OT, she was only concerned with eating and getting him interested in some table activities..Owen was signed up for a 4 week block of therapy. (they do blocks here and then a break, so all kids can recieve govn't therapy. After his first 2 sessions, she was able to REALLY see all the sensory issues, and we have now been given a 12 week block!

Sometimes they just can't tell from one visit, or our little ones are on their best behaivour for the visit for SOME unknown reason!

I hope they will really take the time to look at Zach for you. Thanks for that list!  It really was informative.  I've heard of the book 'More Than Words' but didn't know there was a seminar.  Will have to check it out.

Well Zach's next eval is with a Pediatric Psycologist... and I'll be bringing all the sensory things in to his regular Dr. also.  I don't know if you saw my post about all of the issues with his therapists but Zach is no longer recieving OT or special ed. therapy from EI... just his speech... I do the OT with him at home myself now.  LONG LONG story.  But I just wanted to say thanks for that checklist... because it just confirmed the things that I had been thinking already on my own and I didn't have a checklist *laughs*.

And Zach is one of those kids who does quite well during therapy but then none of it happends again when i try to do it during the day when it's just me and him. *laughs* lil' booger is a people pleaser like his mommy *smiles*.

Here is the thread wher eI posted a place you can buy it and do it yourself. I can't say enough good things about this program. We are at week 9 of 11 weeks, and when my IL's see Owen which isn't often, their Jaw drops at the progress he has made. I don't know where I would be without what I learned from here
