Good Afternoon All,
I just had a conference with my 3 year old's teacher.. Just
a little back round my son who is 3 is developmentall delayed in
several areas he has been in this pre- school disabled class since
early september.. He seems to enjoy it he comes home happy everyday..
At the confernce she said she was concerned because he was non -verbal
and she needed to prompt him to speak and that he also did not
socialize with the other kids.. he stays to himslef when they play.. he
does however enjoy snack time and art&craft time..I guess i am a
little worried because at home he is talkative he only has about 75
words but he talks and half the time i can not understand him but at
least he is making progress so should i be worried that he is not
social he has yet to be dx with anything just the develpomental delay
in speech fine motor and social.. We go to the nero dr. in 2 weeks..
Just wondering if this ok for him because he does seem happy in school.
Thanks In advance for the advice..
I really don't have advise. But I can tell you that Adam was non-verabal at school until mid-year 1st grade. Even with prompting he would not speak. However he would talk at home. He only spoke to me, his dad and my mom. Literally no one else. Now that he is older, he tells me he remembers not speaking, but does not know why. He said words just wouldn't come out.
