I lost it on the phone this morning | Autism PDD

with our case manager.  After getting an email from her last week saying that she was not dealing with me anymore until the complaint(about home services not starting) was finalized I put a call into her yesterday to ask what was going on with the other questions we had posed(in writing); mainly looking at their in district inclusion class.

She says to me that the district is not recommending an inclusion class, not even part time.  they want him in an in district self contained class with limited access to inclusion. (right now he is ood)

She also says that at his last iep (10/11) we discussed with the team that the best place for Gabriel was in their in district program in their self contained class.  I said no we did not, his teachers and therapist recommended that he stay in their classroom and that we put him in an inclusion class part time each day.  She tells me she disagrees with me and i say I have the meeting on tape would you like to come over and listen to the meeting?

She says no but she can set up another IEP if I would like to discuss it further????what is that about???

She then tells me that her recommedation is that Gabriel be brought back into their self contained preschool disabled classroom because he will be around higher functioning children but they are having staffing issues and that would not be an appropiate place for him at this time.  I asked what staffing issues and she said there isnt anyone in the class to perform discrete trial and if he changes classes it should be into a classroom with discrete trial instruction.  Since they dont have that it would not be appropiate.  I asked her if she is aware of any other schools that have a discrete trial program during the day.  she says no

So i ask her what would be the appropiate place for Gabriel and she says again that their self contained preschool disabled classroom would be best for him.

So i say well if it is not an appropiate place because of staffing what is the next best place.  she says leaving him where he is...

Ok so i lose it because we have been arguing on the phone for twenty minutes and i tell her she is not giving me strait answers she tells me i am inflexible and hard to work with etc....

I get off the phone with her and contact the advocay/attorney's office i have been leaving messages with for two weeks.  I finally get someone on the phone and plead my case.  So now finally an advocate is getting assigned to us and they will determine if we are entitled to a lawyer at not cost to us (based by our income and family size)

Then i get a phone call from the mediation dept of ed with a date of Dec 1st for our case.  They also asked if we were requesting a neutral location or at the school district.

Should I push for a  neutral location? The advocay woman said i should request the neutral location and see if we can get the date pushed back a few days so they can have more time to review my case.  I wish I would have contacted them sooner...

thanks

Thanks

LAST YEAR, DANIEL'S TEACHER TRYED AND BLAIMED MY WIFE FOR HIS BEHAVIOR. WE CHOOSE THE PLACEMENT NOW WE DON'T WELCOME THE SCHOOL IDEAS SINCE WE KNOW HIM BEST. PAST SCHOOL ANYHOW. HIS SE CLASS WAS THE BEST THING WE DID. WE THINK. Ask for a neutral location.  Make SURE you speak to the advocate and have ALL YOUR DUCKS IN A ROW for the meeting.
