Good Day To All,
I have been searching so many google leads these days to find a private school who will teach effectively speech to my son who needs ABA Therapy.
I was hoping someone here might be able to help me with a private or non-profit school lead(s) that teaches ABA Therapy. I live in NY and every school in the area is booked or has a waiting list 6 months or more. So I have began looking into relocating anywhere who would have a school that has 1 on 1 services.
I had found one in North Carolina with a good reputation called the "Mariposa School". If anyone may know of a school in Georgia, North Carolina and/or Florida I would appreciate any input I can get.
Thank you ahead of time for any help.
Can you give a little more info about your son and what his age is, and where in NY. I live on LI and know of a few schools but deoends on his age and functioning and where you are.BEWARE OF THE PRIVATE ASD SCHOOL SOME AREN'T THAT GREAT. AUDUREY WHITE'S SCHOOL IS A EXAMPLE. SINGLE MOM TRYING TO PROFIT OFF OF ASD. ONLY RICH CAN GO TO HER SCHOOL. TUITION 20,000YR. PLUS EXTRA FOR EACH THERAPY. PLANO,TX. iF IT WHERE ME i WOULD RATHER LEARN THE SUNRISE PROGRAM AND DO THAT AT HOME. i HAVE USED THEIR IDEAS AND THEY HAVED HELPED OUT.
This is an excellent ABA school in Florida. The director is an ABA therapist, all the teachers are ABA therapists (none of that 'therapist comes in and trains a regular teacher'...these are teachers who have ABA degrees), and it is completely one on one. However, the tuition is HIGH...which is the only reason my ds isn't going there.
http://www.abcschoolhouse.net/Intro.htm I live in Panama City, FL, and we have autism services several of our public schools, including ABA therapy. If this is an area you are interested in, let me know, and I'll give you the names of the schools and the contact information for the autism department at the school board office. Emily We live in central NC and I have heard the Mariposa School has a waiting list as well. I believe the school is in or near Raleigh, which is about an hour away from us. We are actually looking into schools in Delaware; I understand the Delaware Autism Program uses ABA in their program. From what I understand, the program is operational throughout the state. Personally we have not had much experience with "true" ABA... some of Tony's teachers have had some training in it and have used some in their class development. But for the most part, the programs he has been in have been a mixed bag of methods.
