I have to say that I have felt the most hopeful since finding this site. You all seem so experienced and can advise on the stuff that the docs don't really tell you about...like about public situations and how to deal with people who are absolutely rude.  I'm also getting some good input on when Nick gets an IEP. At least I can be prepared to come out" with boxing gloves on"  So far I have been lucky with his therapists, but I also realize that we just got started. I can see the potential of having to fight with therapists as alot of you have to do.  Thanks again to everyone one of you. You are truly special people.

Hi Mitzi,

Just wanted to say WELCOME!!!  Good to have you!

Karrie

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome!

Good to have you and I also think that its wonderful that you caught it so early and have taken action.

Hi Mitzi. And welcome. My son is 22 months and was dx'd with ASD at 20 mo...this board was a godsend to me at that time. LOTS of great information and a really good place to vent! I call this my "autism world" since I'm currently in Germany (military) with little support. I'm working on getting out of here soon, and will be happily back in the south! (ga.) Good to have you here.

Hi Mitzi

You're gonna LOVE it here!

My Son is Tony, he's 9 y/o & HFA (High Functiong Autism). He'll be in the fourth grade in August. He's in a "regular" school & a "regular" classrrom, but he does get taken out of his class & goes to the "resource room" for help with reading, writing, & math comprehension.

I'm Linda a 40 y/o sahm. I have 3 kids, ages 24 y/o , 16 y/o, & of course 9 y/o. I also have 2 Grandchildren by my 24 y/o. They're 5 y/o & a month & a half .

I hope to get to know you better soon!

~Take care!~

Hello Mitzy,I also have a son named Nicholas and I also feel the same way about this message board. It's so awesome that you were able to get his dx so early on. My son wasn't until 4 yrs old. They say the earlier the innervension the better. I wish you and your Nicholas much love and luck.As a mother of 4 I know the challenges you face ahead of you,but the love you recieve from your children will make it all worth while.Keep in touch!!

Hi to all.

Just wanted to welcome you to the board!  Sounds like you've been extremely quick on the ball to get all those therapies begun for your son!  That's wonderful!

My son Luke is 27 mo old and he, too, was dx'd 3 weeks ago with PDD-NOS.  My hubby took a longer time accepting the dx than I, but then I (like you) suspected 'something wrong' for about a year before his diagnosis.

God Bless!

Kellie

Hi Mitzi! WELCOME!

Thanks for the kind words about the board too! I think everyone is really supportive and caring here, so I hope we can all offer you all kinds of support as well!  Make yourself at home!
