Educational Toys | Autism PDD

Share

My 3 year old nephew was just diagnosed as having PDD. From what I've read, that's not a correct diagnosis but in any case, he's now enrolled in a new school for autistic children.

Now for my question: Are there any particular educational toys that you would recommend to stimulate him? He can not speak yet but plays wonderfully by himself. I was thinking of some puzzles, he loves them, but am open to any suggestions you may have.

Thanks,

Dianne

I'm sure they probably have something way better than this now (my son is 17!) but when he was that age, I bought him a ton of books on tape and a kiddie tape recorder.  He would listen to those for hours and in my own twisted little mind, I think it helped his language skills.  Who knows?

If you check out the "used toy shop" post msstellersfan posted all sorts of web sites for educational toys/ equipment. I wiil say that i order from "beyong play" and had my thing within a week. I say that because i've ordered from another site and never received the products.hi there i use www.specialneedstoys.com    xxxxxxI just ordered a few things from beyondplay.com..they had several of the toys the therapist use with him at our early intervention clinic. It's also easy to navigate through their website, I found it hard to find anything at superduperinc.com(but I'm braindead anyway.) Jakob is particularly interested in the shapesorter they have that makes noise when you put the shapes in. We get him to do lots of eye contact "work" to get those little pieces in the sorter!heres the link to the other post Shakes mentioned Consider starting a "Use it Again Shop"Yeah , i have no idea how you guys do that, or anything else for that matter. People say cut and paste and i still automatically think arts and crafts!!By The Way Dianne Sorry We didnt notice you were new.... Welcome to the board! I hope you find help and support here as much as we have!

Just give me back my dos window!!!!!

Tammy
