Teachers aide | Autism PDD

I'd call the individual schools and ask what they're looking for.  Possibly a lateral move to a position similar to the one you hold now would be the thing to try for.  I believe SOME of these schools offer on-the-job training.  ALso, contact the NJ Dept . of Ed. and ask for their requirements for licensing as an Assistant Teacher.  This does not require a degree, but it does require some training.  The best way to find out is simply to ask the schools you're interested in working for.  Good luck.

The last few years I have been working in NJ public schools with autistic children. I would like to work at an autistic school but I do not hold a teaching degree. I am not sure how to find positions available at these special schools. Working with autistic children has been the most rewarding work. I would appreciate some advice. Thanks.

If you have two or more years of college, you could always become a ParaProfessional. :)  I am one who asks for a para-pro not an "aide"..."Shadow" paras sound like the best way to go...not only are you there FOR the teacher, but you still help "when needed" to assist our kiddos.  :)
