Our little Invention | Autism PDD

Well, maybe you all have thought of it but like I have said I am new to all this. I have so many things to attend with my older girls that it isn't always possible to get a sitter. At this time of yr it seems everyday I am at one of the schools for awards etc...........

Yesterday I was at 9yr old school. She was in the school talent show. I know the baby can hardly stay calm for 2 minutes. I decided ok we will go and make the best of it. I put her in the stroller. She loves to ride in it so no problem there. I strap her in, put her fav. blankie around her, clean her glasses, etc and off we go into the school. lol felt like I was going into battle.

We check in and I see her start to almost go into panic mode. You all have been there so I know you know what it is like. I decided to get her ice from the machine behind me. We have learned ice is a GREAT calming tool for her. She chews it, crunches it etc....... I get the ice and when I turn around she has pulled the sun shade down. WOW a light bulb goes off in my head.

I put her blankie over the shade and she had her a CAVE. I put her an ice cube on her tray in front and it melted some so I gave her a little duck I had in my bag. I also found a small stretchy dolphin and a shark. Well, she had the best time QUIETLY playing with her new found friends. LOL a few ppl smiled, looked amazed etc...... But it sure kept her quiet and made no mess. This time she got mad when we LEFT!!!!!!

Just thought who said we Moms aren't inventive?

Susanne  Good thinking! I am glad it worked out for you! Way to stay HEADS UP! Thanks for sharing
